I've been excited to post this for a while, well ever since I found out Andrew's sister Crystal was expecting a baby and my cousin Jamie was too. I knew I was going to be making quilts for them. It was a lot of fun picking out fun fabrics and making something for boys for a change!
This first one was for Jamie's little Logan. We had a baby shower for her on Saturday and I just loved seeing him so happy with his new quilt.
I made it using a Jelly Roll of Moda's Make Life.. by Sweetwater
The following picture is before I got it quilted and bound. Just so you could see the squares better. I got the idea first from my Aunt Jenny's quilt blog, linked Sister's Quilts, and then from hers she directed me to the tutorial found here, Film in the Fridge- String Quilt Tutorial. (I am mostly posting this tutorial because everytime I tried to explain to my mom how I did it she gave me a really puzzled look, so anyway...)
It is way easier than it looks. And I think it is a perfect little quilt for a perfect little boy!
Congratulations Jamie and Kenny!
Then my second "boy" quilt was this one. It was for my brother and sister-in-law Crystal and David and their little boy Spencer. I apologize about the really bad picture. My camera just doesn't do well in our house with artificial light. But it is soo sweet with a nice flannel on the back.
Here is a better picture so that you can see the cute colors. It just doesn't have the binding done. I used fabric from Hushabye Blue Collection and the zig zag idea also came from my Aunt Jenny. Here are her links. Zig Zag quilt and easy triangle tutorial.
I did a um... okay is it called mouse maze quilting pattern, Jenny? Now I can't remember exactly. Anyway, it was more of a little boy type of a quilt pattern instead of doing floral type stuff.
While I was using Jenny's long arm quilter to do the quilt the girls and Lizzy were taking advantage of the quilt I made for Leah. So sweet!
I have really enjoyed making quilt, especially because I get to give them to cute little bugs like this one.
She was definitely in need of a beautiful, soft quilt after lunch.
(btw don't mind the grimey-ness of her high chair! please)

All of your quilts turned out so nice. I hope the new mothers will enjoy wrapping their babies in them. Lily is so blonde, I hardly recognize her.
I need to check out how to do that first quilt. It is so interesting. I know Jenny has done one too. They are both so cute. And speaking of cute, Lily is darling as usual. She has changed just in the past month and a half. Are you coming down anytime soon?
Your quilt efforts look amazing. You should be so proud of your planning and work. Lily looks so cute. Isn't it funny how they can be so tired that they will fall asleep anywhere and in any position.
We love our quilt! Kenny was really impressed with your craftmanship. :) We really appreciate all the work you put into it and into the shower! The other quilts you made are really neat too. I love the design of the one you made for your sis-in-law.
oh my gosh--it is seriously so funny that you just posted about this because i have been working for the last several days on FINALLY making quilts for Lucy and Cali....and I was thinking of picking your brain. (like usual :) I can't believe you do the binding yourself! I am planning on sending it to a quilting shop to do mine. I'm so impressed! Once again, you have outdone yourself.
Hey, I tried calling you today, but it said that the person at the number wasn't accepting calls right now..and it hung up. So I don't know if I have your latest number or not. Either way, i would lve to talk to you. Give me a call if you get a chance.

Hey, that is our quilt! Thanks so much Morgan! It looks like it took such a long time to do. We love it and so does Spencer!
