Super Sweet Three Year Old

I woke up Leah and told her "Happy Birthday Sweetheart! Today is your birthday! Yay!" She instantly jumped out of bed and ran into the living room to grab her blue present from Aunt Sara, and began to open it. Before she got too far I told her she had to wait until later and to put it back. She did so and then asked, "Where's my birfday cake?"

We weren't going to have the party until 6:30 so Leah had to wait out the whole day but we did clean the house and get started on the food and cake.  The decorations have been up a few weeks but I thought I would take some pictures of them.

When I was cleaning the house I was also trying to think of what kind of a cake to make for Leah and how to decorate it. Then I saw the box that the girls' little Dora Tether Backpack Buddy came in and noticed the little Dora the Explorer logo on the side and I decided to try to recreate that. The cake making was going well until I started on the frosting, I made a buttercream but as soon as I added the food coloring it started to seperate so there began my frustrations. Then the cake began to crack and it was looking pretty impossible to frost. When I get frustrated I want to instantly throw in the towel but fortunately the Walker's came over to help with our Halloween party stuff and Margie and Walker soon took over the frosting dilemma. Andrew helped too and between the three of them the cake was then ready for me to decorate with the Dora logo. I must admit it turned out just how I imagined! Thanks to friends and a calm cool and collected husband.

 Pleased as Punch!
Grandpa Schauerhamer was the only one who could make it from Andrew's family and with  my parents out of the country we had to rely on friends to make it a party. We had the Wilsons and the Walkers over and we had a really fun evening. We had bbq pork sandwiches, salad and chips. A perfect little gathering for a perfect birthday girl.
Leah got a lot of fun gifts, clothes (thanks Sara for the adorable outfit!), books, crayons, Play Doh pack (Thanks Schauerhamers!) and CANDYLAND!
Lily was trying to help a little too much and started crying, Andrew's solution is to toss her in the air like a rag doll, unfortunately it works every time. :)
Then it was time to blow out the candles and partake of the cake. Leah knew exactly what to do. She waited by the cake while the candles were lit and we started singing and she realized that the lights were still on so she ran to the light switch and turned it off and ran back to her seat to enjoy the rest of the Birthday song. Before the song was over two of the three candles were blown out.
Let us eat cake! What a fun birthday! We love our Leah and can't believe she is already three years old. She makes our life so much better we can't imagine life without her. Wish more of you could have been there, maybe next year! :)

She is looking so much older. I know only saw her a few weeks ago, but I feel like she looks so different. That outfit was fun to find, and it will looks so cute on her.

I can't believe Lily has such blonde hair, who would have thunk.

Cute Dora cake. What is the obsession with little girls and Dora the Explorer?
