Great Grandpa Russell and baby Russell.
Russell's
Birthday, August 2, 2012, was a long day for us. It started at 1am when Morgan woke me up and
said, “It’s time!” We raced to the hospital in Rexburg and checked in. The
nurse looked her over and said that Russell wasn't quite ready to come yet and
suggested that Morgan walk around the hospital for a few hours to see if it
helps. We walked down every hallway and even ran up and down some stairs only
to find that Morgan still wasn’t ready. Although
Morgan was having contractions every 2-6 minutes, they weren’t strong enough.
Discouraged, we drove back home to Ashton. Morgan’s contractions continued all
day until 7:30pm when she screamed at me, “It’s time!” I said, “Are you sure?”
When she nearly fell off the bed on her next contraction, screaming in pain, I got my answer. Once
again, we sped to the hospital. Even though I stayed well above the speed
limit, that drive seemed to take a long time. The same nurse from the morning was
there to greet us at 8:15 and was surprised it took us so long to come back. The Nurse
looked at Morgan who was now dilated to an 8 and said that there wasn’t time for an epidural, but suggested
we have an intrathecal (which is similar to an epidural). The anesthesiologist
rushed in and gave her the intrathecal just in time. On Morgan’s next
contraction at 8:50, Russell was born. He is a healthy 7 pound, 19.5 inch baby and we couldn’t be
happier.

Andrew blogging? Incredible! So glad to see the newest member of your family. He is so cute and I can't wait to see him in person and hold him and smell his baby hair. Be there soon.
Congratulations, we are glad he is here and all is well.
Oh my gosh!!!! How Awesome! Congratulations, you guys! What an exciting birth story. Morg, you are a champ! I don't want to get an epidural my next time around (the last 2 didn't work anyway) so you'll have to tell me more about this intrathecal thing. :) Glad everything went well. He looks like a doll! I totally have to meet him and smooch on him! :)
Oh my precious! I love him! He is so darling! Such a BEAUTIFUL baby boy! We can definitely see Andrew in him. So glad all went well! Man, I hate that I am in Texas...give him a squeeze from us!

Andrew--great job blogging! I remember when Kenny posted on our blog when Logan was born and I think it was strictly pictures, but I'm glad he took a stab at it. :)
