Just the other day my mom told me that when she was younger she never had any coloring books. The reason she didn't was because her mother, my Grandma Jorgensen had heard that giving your children coloring books to color on restricted their creative processes. They had to color within the lines. So my mom grew up coloring and drawing on plain white sheets of paper. I then looked back on my childhood and realized that I had hardly any coloring books either, if I had any they weren't from my mom they were from someone else. Anyway, I don't buy many for my girls either and all they have are plain old 8.5" by 11" white printer paper. I am, however, very impressed with the art work Leah comes up with.
I think she does a pretty darn good job for only being three. I think she gets artistic ability from both sides of the family. If my Grandma Baum were still here she would make a really big deal out of this and say she was headed straight for art stardom. I think I'll just tell Leah good job and to keep it up as long as you don't draw on my walls and couch! :)
Back before Christmas Andrew and I decided it would be a good gift for my parents to make them a DVD using pictures and video from Ethiopia. It took us awhile but we barely got it done in time for Christmas. Since then my Dad has wanted me to post the videos on YouTube. I finally did last night so check them out. I have more I'm working on but here are four.

Leah Shauerhamer--cartoonist in the making! (I don't think Grandma would have approved of that route of artistic talent). ;)
Those videos were amazing! Wish I had gotten to go.
