We've been able to go to the Celebrate America festivities in Driggs two years in a row now. The Huntington family hosts anyone who wants to come and enjoy some Independence Day at their resort Huntington Springs. It's all free except for the food and boy is it amazing! This year we enjoyed a little lunch that we brought from home, we knew by then it was going to be a doozy of a hot day but it was a good thing that we brought a ton of water, umbrellas and plenty of ice. We set up our blankets and chairs out on the fairway of one of the golf course holes to save our spot for the show later on in the evening.
We knew that the Walkers had to come with us as well as Zack because they didn't make it last year. We were very excited to share this amazing celebration with them and enjoy their company at our favorite time of summer.
Baby Jackson as Lily ALWAYS calls him. :) He sure is cute!
Leah was very excited to wear her patriotic outfit.
This was how close we were to the front stage, it was a perfect spot.
Sweet Lily Girl, trying to stay cool under the Walker's umbrella.
After eating lunch we went up to another part of the resort where all of the day activities were to be, they had about seven or eight blow up houses and obstacle course bounce things set up. Leah loved all of them, there was no one there monitoring turns or anything so it was a little crazy but it meant that they could go a ton of times if they wanted to.
We watched the airshow that was put on right over our heads, it was entertaining but it soon got soooo stinkin hot that I grew tired of staring up into the sun. Don't worry I sat on our camp chairs and had enough water to stay hydrated.
We also were able to see a hypnotist and a magic show, both were pretty good but once again it was really hot so it was kind of hard to enjoy, for me anyway.
The girls got their faces painted, again for free. They loved it and it was fun watching them get so excited over sparkles. :)
After a little dinner we went back to where we saved our spot and got ready to hear some amazing music, speakers and fireworks!
It was so fun to just sit and enjoy time with our friends, the Erickson's showed up for the evening show. We were so glad to see them, they have become some really close friends and we wish they lived in Ashton but they live in Rexburg so we don't get to see them as often as we would like.
The fairway filled in quickly with people ready to enjoy some American fun. I love seeing such an amazing group of people wanting to celebrate America.
Zack had this fun app on his phone where you have to figure out the logo from a partial logo, if that makes sense, anyway we were quite addicted to that that day. Kind of fun.
Just a funny pic of Leah, what a goof!
We were there waiting, or in Andrew's case sleeping when we noticed that Nati was there with Bracken Clark and his family. We were so happy to know that he was there to experience the show.
Lincoln and Luke Erickson
Margie brought all of her Fourth of July hats, she has quite the collection of fun hats so it made our party that much more fun.
Isabella, Rachel, Luke and Lincoln Erickson
Here we are, me in all my glory.... :) Major baby bump and all!
Our speakers were Jon Huntsman Jr. and Sr. We enjoyed their speeches and were glad that they are so wealthy to put on this amazing show for us! After the speeches was the most amazing firework show I've ever seen, I said that last year but somehow they topped it this year. At one point we were surrounded by fireworks, yes surrounded! They had set up the shorter spraying fireworks starting behind us and they went like a wave up to the front of the stage. Not sure how to explain it but it was AMAZING! Plus they have played my favorite fourth of July song both years, Rodeo by Aaron Copland. I just love that song soo much!
We had such a good time with our friends and Zack, so glad that they could come and now that the Walkers are in Texas they better plan on coming back to Idaho every year just for this Celebrate America. If not then we'll go and enjoy it for them. ;)
