Meanwhile, Back at the Farm

We were so relieved to make it to the farm! It has been so nice to finally meet everyone here, they are the kindest most wonderful people and I can see that it will be extremely hard to say goodbye when the time comes. I know their stories and I know what good people they are. The girls are adapting quite well and have enjoyed making friends too.
Here are the girls and their friend Howie, I am certain that is not how you spell it but that's how it is pronounced so there you go. This little tot is a sweetheart and is usually pretty clean which is hard to find when it comes to children here.
"And we all fall down!"
Howie was Leah's first friend find here and so she insisted on showing her the little American game called, "Ring Around the Rosie".

The flowers here in Ethiopia are amazing. These pictures above are of the plants here on the farm in my mom's yard. I love the different colors. That color of orange will always remind me of Ethiopia.

As soon as we arrived it seems like the girls are always getting carried off to meet new people....oh and the monkey!

They got a kick out of the monkey but weren't so fond of it climbing on them, neither was Andrew.
I liked it because it was fun to see how far and fast it could jump all over. It seemed like it could jump from the ground to the top of your head quite easily.

Our friends, Haile, Seid and Ashreka have been around to entertain us. We gave everyone at least one gummy worm and asked them what they thought of it, most everyone liked it except for Seid (bottom left corner) He was a little creeped out by the fact that it looked like a worm, I told him that was the point.

Zakir and me with the camels on the road to Goorooraya. Once again I'm not sure if that's how it's spelled but that's how it sounds. Anyway we stopped to get a few pics with these crazy cool animals. Zakir insisted we stand at the behind so it didn't bite us, frankly I was more worried about getting kicked and pooped on.

Another of Leah's new friends, Bontu (Bone to). She has the prettiest face. She's a sweetheart and loves to come over and find Leah to play. She doesn't understand English but gets along fine with Leah, especially when there are suckers to be had.
I've discovered that Ethiopia has some of the coolest birds. I haven't been able to take pictures of all of them because we're either driving and I can't get them quick enough or  I don't have my camera. Anyway they have very interesting beaks and usually bright colorful feathers, oh and some of them are huge!

For those of you who may wonder what we have been eating, tibbs, goat, what not.. We actually have been eating very well here on the farm, spaghetti, cinnamon rolls, grilled ham and swiss cheese, pork roast with vegetables and even my favorite zucchini with tomatoes. I'm happy about that except that it wouldn't have hurt me to have starved and lost a few pounds on my time here but oh well..:)

Oh Morgan, how amazing is it to see your little girls running around and playing with little girls from the other side of the world. Howie and Boneto are so cute. Somehow I had in my mind that there would be no playmates for the little girlies. So pleasant surprise that there are instant friends for them to be with. The flowers are beautiful.

What an amazing experience you are having. I still love to see everyone's reaction to the 2 little blondies. I still wish I was there with you all. Except the goat. Glad I am not there for that. Keep blogging. I want to see it all.

Morgan do you think that maybe people are having trouble leaving comments again. If that is the case I will leave you a really long comment. I love the picture of the two little girls holding hands and running off to play. It is so sweet. The camel picture is also very sweet. Zakir's smile tells me that he has found a dear friend. He has probably heard as many stories about you as you have heard about him. How are your Mom and Dad? I hope that you are all having a good time. I'm also sure that you are learning so many new things about people and Africa. Enjoy your time there. We will be so happy to have you back home and a little closer to us all.
