Our Roman Holiday Parte Due

I know, another "Baby in the Corner" picture. :) I forgot this little collage from yesterday and thought I would post it on this one. Can I just say that I do NOT regret bringing these girls on this trip at all! I am so glad that they are here and they bring such a fun aspect to this trip. They are being so good and I couldn't ask for a better experience here in Rome.  Oh and a big HUGE thanks to the Allens for letting us take their most amazing of amazing strollers. It has become our best friend and has been such a help in exploring Roma, which we did our fair share of today.

We Skyped with my parents yesterday and asked them what we should do today and they suggested the Pantheon and the fountains, of which there are many! So that's what we set out to do this morning.... er..... okay, okay it was NOON but we had a bad night. We thought we were going to beat this jet lag thing but nope. But you will be amazed at all we did despite the late start.
We decided that we would walk everywhere just winding our way through the crazy streets of Rome and see everything that way. Just so that you know this is what the streets look like, cafes, motorcycles, cobblestone streets, and the most amazing architecture and stone carvings imaginable.
The fountains seemed to be around every corner. Beautiful and massive. The Romans knew how to carve sculptures that's for sure!
The famous Trevi Fountain did not disappoint! This place is absolutely beautiful! I just can't get over how much I was impressed by this beautiful work of art. Leah loved it too, she about crawled in to take a dip but I caught her before she got too wet.
The Trevi Fountain is in this tiny little courtyard area, it's kind of a funny location but you can tell that all of the little business owners have tried to cram as much in that little courtyard as possible, anyway we decided to try the little Pizzeria and Gelatini that was literally steps away from the fountain. This turned out to be my favorite place we've been to so far. Delicious pizza, there were several to choose from and our Strawberry and Pistachio gelatos were to die for! Gosh they know how to make ice cream!! SOOO CREAMY!

Just a few blocks from the Trevi Fountain we found the Pantheon, which is a really large church that happened to be under construction while we were there but fortunately we were still able to go inside. What an cool building! So huge, soo OLD! Wow at the top it has this massive hole that I'm guessing is just open, I don't know what they do when it rains but it's a pretty dern big hole! :)
These pictures don't do the size of the columns justice. They would probably take at least five grown men to circle their arms around.

This was probably my favorite place today... I think it was more the fact that there were no buzzing motorcycles and no cars and there was this guy playing the guitar with a little sound system. I had my Aha moment here... It was Italy at it's finest. The most beautiful secluded yet huge Piazza with the most Italian feel I could only dream of. There were fountains, cobblestones and even a large Art fair in the middle. I could look at beautiful Italian art while listening to the music and having these great buildings to be surrounded by... indescribable. Mom and Dad we are defitely going there when we come back!
Dancing in the Piazza Navona

While in Hawaii I kept thinking, "I can't take a bad picture, It's soo beautiful here!" I feel the same thing about Rome.
We decided to walk up to the Villa Borghese and even though it was a long walk North we enjoyed it so much that we decided to wait and experience the rest with my parents when we come back through. I think it is right up mom's alley!

We were so tired from walking everywhere we decided to give our legs a break and take the Metro South to the Colosseo to see it in the evning with all of the lights. It was almost even better than in the day. It was definitely worth carrying the Stroller up and down the stairs and elevators through the Termini stations.

This has been by far my favorite vacation ever. I would suggest to you all that you start saving and planning your trip to Rome. It's too amazing to go without experiencing at least once, if not more! I feel so blessed to be here with Andrew and my girlies, definitely an adventure of a lifetime!
p.s. we have one more day to go and then it's off to Africa! Sheesh I hope we can handle it!

Your pictures are amazing. However, you are in an amazing city. How about that Trevi fountain? The Pantheon was Dad's most favorite thing to see in Rome. I loved that area outside a lot because it is so perfect with no cars and all those sidewalk cafes down the narrow side streets. Love the coleseo in the evening! Dad says that you are getting perfect weather in Rome at least til next Thursday. Hope it's perfect when we go back through. I'm so relieved that you're having a great time. You're going to hate leaving Rome, but you will be back soon. Love mom

I wish I could have been there seeing Rome with the little girls. I could just see them dancing to the music that the guy was playing. I am also glad that you have had the opportunity to go. Take Care

So amazing!!! And I am quite jealous of your trip. Italy is a place I would really like to go someday...especially for their ice cream. :) The pictures are so pretty and everything is so gorgeous there. When my friend, Shelley, was over there (back in HS for summer exchange) she said that a lot of Italians were obsessed with them because they were white. And, of course, your girls are so cute and adorable! BTW, we played Karnaxis with some friends this weekend and they loved it! They would like to buy a game but I can't remember for sure what you said the price for the general public is.
