Easter Festivities

The Saturday before Easter turned out to be a beautiful day, warm enough to do some yard work and play outside with the girls. We were happy to be outside since it seems like it has been months... oh wait it has! Anyway we headed to Grandmas to help her and to decorate eggs.

Leah obviously thought it was warm enough to not wear a coat.

After making several piles of sticks and grass in Grandma's front lawn we decided to save the clean up for another day and headed indoors to decorate these super cute little creme filled white chocolate eggs. We used colored white chocolate to do all of the decorating. They turned out pretty cute and tasted really good too.
Lily fell asleep before she had a chance to take part in the Easter egg dying. I love bright colors on eggs and of course we had to make one for each member of the family. Leah loved choosing the different colors and checking them to see if they were done.

I put this group of eggs together because I think they are a beautiful combination. I think I would like to have a sunroom with these beautiful natural colors.
Later that night Andrew and I watched The Robe while Lily and Leah watched Bambi, I think they are very appropriate Easter movies. :)
Easter morning was very relaxed, I think the Easter bunny even came in the morning instead of the middle of the night. :) He brought us lots of yummy chocolates and tropical fruit, what a healthy conscious bunny.
Lily didn't waste any time finding her fun-filled basket. I think next time the bunny better do a better job of hiding it, she's too smart. (Sara-notice the horse)

Leah was smart too and found hers in the entertainment center drawer. Her eyes got huge and she screamed when she opened to find not only  her Easter basket but it full of treats.
Let's get down to business, they probably shoved at least five pieces of chocolate in their mouths in less than a minute. They don't get chocolate all that often so it was like hurry and get it in before mom finds out!

The Easter bunny was clever enough to hide my basket in the garbage, for some reason I think he's done that before. ;) Oh well it's a good idea!
As much as I love being with extended family over the Holidays I've grown to appreciate just spending time with my husband and girlies. It was a wonderful Easter morning and I loved watching the girls search the house for their baskets. At church I taught the kids in nursery and for once they did a pretty good job listening to the real story of Easter. On the way home Leah made the comment "Jesus said I could have candy before dinner, mom!" At least she got the connection between Jesus and Easter. She is only 3.

I'm glad to hear that the Easter Bunny is carrying with the healthy fruit tradition in our family. What a wise old creature he is. I was very entertained by Leah's personal revelation from the Savior. I wish he spoke that clearly to me at times. Funny Girls.

So cute to see your fun Easter pictures. It looks like you had a great day with your family. Leah's little comment cracked me up. I am glad to see the snow is melted.

Super cute cupcakes! And I'm thinking that the tropical fruit would make one yummy smoothie right now :)!
