I so much enjoyed Conference this fall, as I do each conference but it seemed like there were great new insights on things that I had questions about going into this weekend. I love that each speaker knows exactly what we need to hear and helps make it very relevant to today's time. A lot of speakers seemed to know exactly what time wasters there are, FB, Twitter, Texting, Gaming, and that really hit home to me because I probably spend way too much time on some of these, (FB). :) Okay let's get to the quiz.
1. There were two choirs that sang this conference, the Tabernacle Choir and the Primary Aged kids from around Ogden, they did a wonderful job. Name five songs sung by the choirs this conference.
2. I always look forward to what new temples will be announced by the Prophet. I think it was in our RS lesson last week where we were discussing how it is just expected that we will hear about more temples being built each conference, it's amazing how temples are going to eventually fill this whole earth, well at least UTAH! :)
Where are the SIX new temples going to be built?
3. I study the scriptures but it never dawned on me that I should be memorizing those scriptures! Who said that memorizing scriptures is like filling a filing cabinet with friends?
4. It made sense completely that President Bednar talked to the Youth about geneology and the fact that because of their knowledge about technology that they should be more involved in it. Not only because they are good with computers but because they should be doing the work for their ancestors, it will help them stay stronger in the church in the future. What is the name of the new internet site dedicated to this cause?
5. Though it is between you and the Lord, what speaker testified of the importance of bearing children. I really liked his story about the couple who had wanted children for so long and eventually adopted two beautiful girls. When they went out people mentioned how beautiful their grandkids were. :)
6. This one really hit home. Ian S. Ardern said that, "I know our greatest happiness comes as we tune in to the Lord (see Alma 37:37) and to those things which bring a lasting reward rather than mindlessly tuning in to countless hours of status updates, Internet farming, and catapulting angry birds at concrete walls. I urge each of us to take those things which rob us of precious time and determine to be their master, rather than allowing them through their addictive nature to be the master of us." What did he say we should do figuratively with those time wasters?
7. President Eyering related the story about a young man who as he moved from place to place around the world, carried a box of things he had collected. One day, the young man alone and unhappy saw the box. At the bottom of the box, he found what?
8. Sister Elaine S. Dalton spoke very plainly about fathers raising daughters. Knowing that this was exactly Andrew's situation as well as a lot of families I know, I paid really close attention. She said, "Fathers, you are your daughter’s hero. My father was my hero. I used to wait on the steps of our home for him to arrive each night. He would pick me up and twirl me around, let me put my feet on his big shoes, and then he would dance me into the house. I loved the challenge of trying to follow his every footstep. I still do." I liked that because Andrew does a similar thing with our girls and I hope he knows how much they look up to him. Later in our girls' life, according to sister Dalton, if Leah or Lily are out past curfew what is Andrew supposed to do?
9. Who said this encouraging statement, "Please understand that what you see and experience now is not what forever will be. You will not feel loneliness, sorrow, pain, or discouragement forever. We have the faithful promise of God that He will neither forget nor forsake those who incline their hearts to Him. Have hope and faith in that promise. Learn to love your Heavenly Father and become His disciple in word and in deed."?
10. In the general conference we missed hearing this Apostle speak, but good since this is what he had to say to the young men of the church in the Priesthood session, "I especially ask the men of the Aaronic Priesthood to sit up and take notice. And for you, let me mix in an athletic analogy. This is a life-and-death contest we are in, young men, and so I am going to get in your face a little, nose to nose—just enough fire to singe your eyebrows a little, the way coaches do when the game is close and victory means everything. And with the game on the line, what this coach is telling you is that to play in this match, some of you have to be more morally clean than you now are. In this battle between good and evil, you cannot play for the adversary whenever temptation comes along and then expect to suit up for the Savior at temple and mission time as if nothing has happened. That, my young friends, you cannot do. God will not be mocked." I can just picture this Apostle saying these words, who was it?
